Hardware has been our family tradition for over 54 years. We have served happy customers by anticipating and meeting their needs since 1952. Originally K&R was a variety store selling dry goods, toys, household items, plumbing, paint and hardware. We quickly recognized the demand for a business specializing in hardware and we began carrying goods our customers needed.

Our first store was opened by Harold Kazan and his father-in-law, Max Reimer, hence the name K&R. We began business on 35th Avenue between McDowell Road and Van Buren. The store prospered and outgrew its location eventually moving to 35th Avenue and McDowell. Customers quickly recognized our dedication to customer satisfaction knowing we could meet their varied needs. We affiliated with Ace hardware to obtain the best prices for our customers.

Harold decided to expand his business by opening another store in 1978. He choose the location of 19th Ave and Union Hills and named the establishment Union Hill Ace Hardware. He selected this site anticipating the population growth of the city. He and his wife Lee worked hard to prepare their business selecting items needed by their new clientele. Originally Harold and Lee ran the business with their son Barry Kazan and they were quickly joined by their daughter, Lala Van Camp.

Present Day

Today Lee and Lala manage the store maintaining the same standards of excellence. Customer satisfaction is due in part to their many knowledgeable employees. We pride ourselves in meeting our customers needs and expectations.

We provide many services including special orders, glass cutting, custom keys, plumbing, special screen orders and custom paint. We will help you meet your hardware needs assisting on all projects no matter what size. We take as much time is necessary talking to customers to find solutions that will work.

We are a full service hardware store able to accommodate all of your home projects. We have been a family run business for Y2 of a century growing up with Phoenix. Service is our specialty and with our loyal customers we anticipate we will be helping patrons for many more years.
